Agents of SHIELD season 5 spoilers: Don’t expect another Framework
Luckily, we were glad to be wrong given that SO much fantastic stuff happened there. It was good to see a better side of Grant Ward and a darker side of Leo Fitz. Meanwhile, it was also interesting to get a chance to see characters like Tripp again, and most importantly, everything that happened there mattered. We lost Jeffrey Mace, and we saw how the story with Madame Hydra eventually led the way to Aida’s rise to further power outside of it. She became a Big Bad who was so different than anyone else, and it was rather incredible to see who she became by the end.
So could it return? While it doesn’t seem like there are immediate plans to bring it back, there is certainly still a chance of it. Just take a look at what executive producer Jed Whedon had to say to Entertainment Weekly on the subject:
“We’re trying to tell different kinds of stories and show our characters in different situations. The last thing we want is for people to say, ‘Oh, they’re trotting that thing out again.’ If there were a way to tell a fresh story with something else to say, I think all storytelling is on the table … The Framework opened up a lot of ideas and a lot of possibilities, and our head of post keeps reminding us of that, because he’s the biggest fan of the Framework, and he thinks it should be its own spinoff show.”
If for whatever reason you haven’t had a chance to check out the excellent fourth season just yet, great news: It is now officially on Netflix! Check it out…
