Family Guy replaying big Adam West episode, will offer tribute card
On Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, Fox is now set to air an episode entitled “The Dating Game” that first aired in March, and featured a major storyline for West. This episode will also have a tribute card further honoring the actor and his contributions. This tribute goes alongside a ceremony that is coming in Los Angeles where the famed Bat-Signal will be lit in his honor. Given that this is a city of entertainers, it only makes a little bit more sense that they in turn find a way to give West some further love for everything he meant to the people here and all of his fans.
While nothing has been altogether confirmed when it comes to the future of Family Guy, including if West had recorded more episodes prior to his death, the show will likely create some sort of further tribute down the road. You obviously cannot recast someone as “Adam West,” and nor do we get the sense that this is something that Seth MacFarlane would even want to do to someone he considered to be a friend.
Hopefully, there will be further tributes to West across the TV medium over time given what he meant to so many people. Without the success of the original Batman series, it is difficult to imagine where television or superhero content would be today. He was an inspiration, and he brought a whole new life to material that to many people was reserved for the comic books and the comic books only.
For Family Guy, he brought a touch of history to a memorable ensemble that stays committed to having a good laugh first and foremost.
