Queen of the South season 2 premiere ratings stay strong
One of the show’s biggest strengths is that it showcases a great deal of consistency. Those who watched the first episode by and large stuck around for every single hour after that, and then also for the season 2 premiere. Last week’s episode generated a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and then also 1.25 million viewers. These numbers may be down slightly from the 0.5 rating and the 1.39 million viewers who watched the series premiere, but what they do represent is a slight improvement from the average that was there in the first season.
Queen of the South, if it does manage to find a way to continue at its current pace, seems all but assured to be able to make it to a season 3. So long as the show pulls constant numbers, it could be one of USA’s longest-lasting hits for some time. Its ratings are not too far off from one of their longest-running hits at the moment in Suits, and they are actually out ahead on Mr. Robot, especially in terms of total viewers where they are dominating the show.
We’ll continue to keep watch of the ratings throughout the second season, but if this continues don’t be surprised if a press release is out there come August giving the show a little more in the wake of long-term job security. The earlier that the writers can figure out that they are going to be coming back, the sooner in turn that they can start to plot out what some of the other stories are going to be coming in the third season. Stability tends to help just about everyone involved.
