America’s Got Talent impersonator Daniel Ferguson takes on Simon Cowell

Daniel Ferguson

If you do love great impressionists, you’re probably going to love Daniel Ferguson on Tuesday’s new America’s Got Talent episode. Not only does he do a number of different voices, but he also performs as them in song! Check out the video below via People Magazine.

Some of these voices are fairly familiar ones to talent-show competitions — specifically, check out the audition from Craig Ball on Britain’s Got Talent. Doing impressions of Scooby-Doo, Kermit the Frog, and Peter Griffin from Family Guy are fairly common because they are such distinct voices. The Mickey Mouse one is fairly impressive just because that’s a hard one to reach vocally, but Daniel’s best may actually be his Simon Cowell. It’s a deceptively hard voice to do since Simon has such a dryness to the way he speaks — it’s also British, but not overly so to the point of him sounding like a stereotype. This may be the best Cowell impression that we’ve ever heard on one of these talent shows. (We’ve seen some attempts at it that end very badly for the parties involved.)

Obviously, this audition from Ferguson is obviously good enough to get him to the next round, so his next challenge should be coming up with totally new voices for his next song. Try not to repeat anyone until potentially the final, and think about maybe some ones that are a little less common. You could easily try to put some of the other judges in there like a Mel B or a Heidi Klum to make it a little bit more personal to the show. There is potential for him to make it far, but his biggest competition may actually be Golden Buzzer recipient Darci Lynne judging from the fact that her own act is geared around making voices for different performances.

For the time being, cheers to Daniel for a great audition, and for coming up with a twist on impressions that hasn’t been done on the American version of the show before now.
