Shadowhunters season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Sebastian meets Clary
After all, it is here where Sebastian meets some members of the New York Institute for the first time. He clearly already met Izzy / displayed some of what makes him so “special,” and over the course of this preview, he also meets Alec, Jace, and most importantly, Clary. The relationship between these two is going to be one of the most interesting to watch moving forward. After all, the photo above signals that they have bench time in the sunlight! There are so few bright and cheery scenes on this show that you have to point them out whenever possible. There are probably also some body-language experts who will want to read a whole lot into the fact that she has her hand on his arm.
Anyhow, Sebastian’s reaction to meeting the Institute crew is just what you would expect from anyone who has knowledge of fellow Shadowhunters — he’s impressed by their resumes, and he’s certainly familiar with much of their work. For Clary, he recognizes that she is Valentine’s daughter, a fact that she is clearly not too happy to own. He potentially eases that tension by noting that sometimes, you don’t choose your parents.
Seeing how the writers pace Sebastian throughout this summer season will be interesting, given that you don’t want to present too much of anything, too quickly. It’s a slow burn before it reaches “burn down the house” levels of crazy. For the time being, the Shadowhunters have enough other problems to deal with, and it’s not going to be getting any easier for them in the coming weeks when he rises further to prominence.
All we can say is that if you love great drama with a side of mystery, the next few episodes will bring that. Also, a smorgasbord of romance that sends ‘shippers close to hysterics, given that the Jace paternity reveal should complicate things with Clary and Simon.
