Quantico season 3: Which longtime cast member is leaving?
In a post on Twitter, Yasmine Al Massri, who played the two separate parts of Raina and Minah on the scripted drama, made it clear that it was “time to say goodbye” to the show. This marks an end to an exciting two-year run for the characters, who were fairly integral to the story from the very beginning, where we got a good sense of who they were in training. They were valuable to the course of the story, and also important to understanding further what Quantico was really like and the different roles that agents within the FBI can have when it comes to stopping crime.
There is no reason given for Al Massri’s departure, and it may just be a function of the story going in a different enough direction that she decided it best to depart and look at some different directions for her career. Either way, it’s sad to lose a cast member on a show that does already have a tendency to fluctuate between different characters and actors on a fairly regular basis already. Since the start of the show, Quantico has experienced a wide array of changes, and is even coming off of one of the biggest format changes that we’ve seen to date with the show moving from a serialized drama into much more of a procedural after the end of the first half of season 2. It’s fair to expect that there are many more changes that are probably going to be coming before the show premieres.
At present, the expectation is that season 3, which is also going to have a new showrunner, will premiere at some point early in the new year or the spring. Much of that timeslot will depend heavily on the performances of some other shows across the board. The show wasn’t a ratings sensation through much of the second season, but there was still a great deal of value to bring the show back when it comes to its international clout. Star Priyanka Chopra is significantly more famous in some parts of Asia than in North America.
