Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 1 spoilers: The fun resumes

Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 1

Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 1 premieres on Syfy tomorrow night, and if for whatever reason you’re not watching, you should be.

In no uncertain terms, there are a WIDE array of reasons to want to get into watching this show, with one of the largest ones being that it’s a celebration of fun separate from the majority of the shows out there. It’s reminiscent in some ways of a Supernatural, Psych, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or even a Chuck — basically, it’s within our favorite genre of show: Semi-procedural that mixes serious character moments with humor, creativity, and heart. It doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to get into the show if you haven’t seen it before, even if the first season is on Netflix and you can check it out that way.

The great thing about the season 2 premiere is that the show won’t force you through any developmental stages anymore. Wynonna Earp knows what it is at this point, and what it wants to give to you. Every week, the title character’s going to take down demons and other bad guys with her gun, which will be akin to a one-way ticket to hell. She’ll have help from those close to her, and in the end she’ll try to find some normalcy in the process. The season 2 trailer below serves almost as much as a primer for newbie fans as it does for returning viewers, but that’s fine — Syfy shows consistently need more viewership, so anything to help get the word out is absolutely fine.

If for whatever reason you haven’t seen any premiere details yet, behold the short synopsis now from the first episode entitled “Steel Bars and Stone Walls”: “Wynonna tries to rescue a seemingly mutated Dolls, while there may be more to Waverly than meets the eye.”

Maybe this episode will be the beginning of Waverly having an even more prominent role; as for the quest to help Agent Dolls, obviously preserving his humanity is integral if he’s going to continue to be a part of this show. With this sort of show (and with Syfy being a cable network with a propensity for mixing things up), it’s never right to assume anything.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for both a review of the Wynonna Earp premiere and a look at what could be coming the rest of the season. Stay tuned at the link here for further insight. (Photo: Syfy.)
