MasterChef season 8 episode 3: Could Mark quit the competition?
That person is Mark, and Gordon is not altogether impressed with some of his snark. Being funny in the kitchen is not always something that Chef Ramsay appreciates. There is something to be said for lighthearted humor here and there, but one of the things that the chef seems to hate the most about people on his shows is when one of them acts like they are above everything and then proceeds to make fun of little things here and there.
Regrettably, the preview tonight was so short that it was hard to get a sense of everything — however, Gordon did ask him if he was taking this seriously, and effectively told him to either smarten up to his rules or GTFO. The show put a shot in here of him walking away without an apron on, which could either be a serious concern or just a clever editing trick.
No matter, having this sort of conflict early in a season is a good thing given that you need to have some reasons for people to stand out on the show. The last thing that you want to do is have a situation where the contestants are boring — that’s why it’s great that you had some of the personalities from last week (remember the outspoken Texas mom?) paired with someone this week like Brien, the guy with the weirdly-spelled name who decided to name his food after him even though he has zero resume to back it up.
This is a good group, and it should make for a fun season — you want quality cooks and big personalities for MasterChef to stand out above the rest, so hopefully this season ends up delivering.
Do you think that someone like Mark could end up leaving MasterChef because of an argument with Ramsay? Could that really happen? Share in the comments!
