Is Prison Break new tonight? When season 6 decision could come

Is Prison Break new on Fox? It makes sense to want more new episodes since this show is a fun ride, but unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be what’s coming your way.

Unfortunately, last week’s episode was the final one of the nine-episode revival, and it could end up being the last one for the entire series depending on what Fox decides to do with the show (the cast and producers will be getting a say in here, as well). The reality that the show faces right now is simply the fact that it’s not on the upcoming 2017-18 schedule, and that was by design. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are very busy on Legends of Tomorrow (and other projects) right now, and there are no firm plans for another season.

Will there be a time in which that changes? It’s possible, and with that our advice is to take a look towards the new year. It’s possible that Fox will discuss the show further either at the 2018 Winter TCA Press Tour or the upfronts next May, but probably not before that. Even this is just a whim and a hope based on what Fox did with The X-Files this year, but there is not any actual evidence of them doing anything with the franchise anytime soon.

One of the unfortunate things about the current state of Prison Break is that at the moment, the show is in this unfortunate place where its ratings for season 5 were good enough for there to be discussions about further seasons; however, they were not so good to where the show has a certain future. With the way that primetime ratings across many of the major networks are falling, there is a possibility that come a year or two from now, Prison Break could look like a top-tier hit by comparison. This absolutely is going to be a subject worthy of some further exploring over the coming months, so stay tuned for further chatter … provided that there is some sort of source for said chatter. At the moment, it’s easy to just be grateful for a season 5 given that The Final Break definitely didn’t offer up much hope of that at one point.
