Taken season 2 sets Person of Interest alum Greg Plageman as showrunner

Greg PlagemanTaken season 2 has found its new showrunner, and it’s someone in Greg Plageman who should be more than qualified for the gig.

Sources confirm that the Person of Interest alum is going to be joining the NBC series, one that decided to make a creative change at the top going into the new batch of episodes. There is a longer episode order this time around, and that should expand the world of Bryan Mills and more of the people around him.

With all of that said, there are absolutely some new challenges that are going to be coming Plageman’s way in this position. The show didn’t necessarily have huge ratings for season 1, and he needs to find a way to maintain that audience while dealing with another enormous challenge in a move to Friday nights. This is a night where things are going to be surprisingly competitive, as a number of big networks have all moved some of their programming to this night. The competition could prove troubling for some of them, so it should prove interesting how things play out.

In a statement, EuropaCorp TV USA president Matthew Gross had the following to say:

“We’re thrilled to bring Greg on to run the show … His enormous talent and vast experience with bold broadcast television is a perfect fit. We look forward to seeing what his vision and direction brings to ‘Taken’ and the Bryan Mills character as we move into the show’s second season.”

Plageman knows a thing or two about dealing with dark series featuring complicated male leads, and absolutely all of that does suggest that he would be interested in exploring further with Clive Standen and the rest of the cast here. Person of Interest ran for five seasons, and the general consensus with it is that it did find some great ways to improve over the course of its run thanks to characters becoming all the more developed over time.
