Ink Master: Angels will run for ten episodes; will factor into season 10

Ink Master: Angels

What is Ink Master: Angels all about? If you are fans of the major female alliance that dominated season 8 of Ink Master, then this is the show for you!

This series, which features four former Ink Master contestants including reigning champion Ryan Ashley, Kelly Doty, Nikki Simpson and Gia Rose, will run for ten episodes this fall following the completion of Ink Master season 9 (which is premiering on Spike tomorrow). These four will travel the country and help introduce some competitions involving various artists. Winners of various challenges will eventually have a chance to compete for a spot on Ink Master and its upcoming tenth season!

Is this the only prize for the show? That remains to be seen, but it would be somewhat-interesting for the only prize to be something that other artists can get just for showing up at a casting call. Maybe the idea for Ink Master: Angels is to focus more on under-the-radar tattooers, the diamonds in the rough that you don’t often see on the competition proper? Maybe these are people relatively raw in terms of experience, or come from demographics that aren’t often represented on the show?

No matter how it is structured, it’s hard to complain about getting more Ink Master given that this show does remain one of the strongest series in the entire Spike lineup — not only that, but it’s the most entertaining (in our humble opinion). It delivers consistently strong ratings, and that’s a part of the reason why they keep renewing the show for additional seasons before the most recent one airs. When Spike becomes the Paramount Network in the new year, this franchise will remain a vital part of it.

Now, the one thing that we have to hope for is for a season of Ink Master that features a more traditional format. After all, some of the recent twists and turns aren’t necessarily needed given that there was a great concept at the center of the show in the first place. We would love to see the show go back to it’s first season roots where there are no twists and no returning artists.
