The Night Shift season 4 premiere spoilers: First details on ‘Recoil’
The premiere episode is entitled “Recoil,” and that alone seems to be an appropriate name for an episode that could feature some blowback to what happened with the various catastrophes in the season 3 finale. On the other side of that, meanwhile, there may be a chance for everyone to recover and try and get their lives on track. It appears as though many characters will find a way to survive their respective cliffhangers, but as the synopsis below indicates, this is far from the end for any of their assorted troubles:
“Jordan (Jill Flint) and Drew (Brendan Fehr) perform a daring rescue by jumping from a chopper. Landing at the nearest VA hospital, Jordan sparks a plan to appease Julian (James McDaniel) and reunite her night shift team. Back at the hospital, Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) deals with the repercussions of standing up to his father while Scott (Scott Wolf) dives headlong into his professional life. Kenny (JR Lemon) butts heads with Cain (recurring guest star Mark Consuelos), a traveling nurse with a mysterious past. Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) indoctrinates Cain as they work in San Antonio Memorial’s understaffed and overworked ER. Meanwhile, TC (Eoin Macken) is held captive in Syria. In order to find Syd (recurring guest star Jennifer Beals), TC must treat his captor instead of returning to the safety of an air base with a civilian volunteer, Amira (Rana Roy).”
One of the big takeaways from this synopsis is the arrival of Consuelos, given that he will be a significant part of the story to come. Having him enter the story in conflict with Kenny seems like a pretty fantastic way to start things off, given that it gives Lemon some great material and allows the two of them to play off of each other. Over time, we figure that he will make his presence known in San Antonio with many of the characters.
As for TC, it seems already as though ethical dilemmas will be the name of the game as he tries to reconcile the challenge of being a doctor wanting to save people with the fact that this very person is the same one who captured him. That should be a challenge.
