Sin City TV series in development from Walking Dead alum

Sin City

Could Sin City, the classic Frank Miller classic turned feature film, be turned into a full-fledged TV show? It’s possible, given that there’s a very talented person involved around in Glen Mazzara.

According to Deadline, The Weinstein Company is working with Dimension Films on a new TV version that will have a lot of common ground with the comics. Mazzara comes on the show really with a great understanding of comic books, given that he is a former showrunner for The Walking Dead. Not only that, but he does from his time on The Shield how to do dark and gritty. He and director Len Wiseman (Underworld) seem like they are two of the best people for the job in the TV world.

Now that all of this is said, there is still a lot that needs to happen in order for this idea to become reality, and one of the big things is working to secure a viable network. There are no publicly-named suitors at present, but the initial report suggests that there are some interested parties out there. The obvious pick at the top of our own head is Cinemax, given that they are trying to get back to some of their action-heavy roots and are extreme enough that they can handle all of the content from the comic books. Beyond that, maybe a network like an FX would be willing to make a believable version. The idea of it going to an HBO or a Showtime seems a little improbable, and we’d be shocked to see Mazzara team up again with AMC after what happened with The Walking Dead at the end of his run.

Glen does have a history of working with FX thanks to The Shield, and thanks to Legion, they’ve also shown that they can do comics right. With all of this in mind, maybe it is right to put them atop the list of possible basic-cable homes for the series if it comes to fruition.

For now, though, the question worth asking is probably a fairly-simple one: Do you even want to see a Sin City TV show? Share some of your thoughts now with a comment! As soon as there is some further news on the concept of this show out there, we’ll be sure to let you know. (Photo: Sin City.)
