The Amazing Race 30 return date hopes: When could it be back?
The good news? The Amazing Race 30 is happening, and that’s not something many people would have predicted going into the start of season 29 with its terrible premiere date and the bouncing around it did on the schedule.
The first thing to know is that the Phil Keoghan-hosted show is not going to be coming on the air in the fall, as those timeslots are all officially taken care of now. It’s not altogether assured that it is coming back in the winter, either. This could be another situation where The Amazing Race becomes the fill-in for a fill-in, or is shoved to late March or early April depending on what’s happening with some of the other shows that are on the air.
What could make the show premiere a little bit earlier is if one of the shows on the fall gets canceled, but it’s hard to root for that just because it equates to rooting for other people to lose their jobs. Also, karma. Rooting for other shows to end could just end up leading to your own show ending in turn, and that’s probably not a great thing.
For now, just be happy that the show is coming back, though it’d hardly be a surprise if someone decided to pack things in from here with The Amazing Race ending on a nice, round number. The one thing that we really hope is that producers don’t take this to mean to do an All-Star season, given that these really don’t work all that well with this show. For the final season, it’d just be fun to see the series go back to its roots of teams of two with a preexisting relationship going on the show to travel around the world — specifically with the teams of two, it’d be nice to see a bunch of normal people and no obvious gimmicks like professional athletes or beauty-pageant contestants. People who are interesting aside from having a job that tends to shove them in a box.

After the season finale tonight, it might’ve been nice for CBS just to say:
The Amazing Race!
Returning for Season 30!
Just a nice little acknowledgement or something.
