Is Supergirl new tonight on The CW? The season 3 progress being made
While it is a bummer to be on hiatus at the moment, there is a little bit of season 3 momentum being made as we carry the story over into the summer. The is already starting to think some things over in terms of their story; to date, this is what has been announced.
1. Reign is the new Big Bad – This is presumably the character who was referenced in the teaser at the end of the finale, and it’s someone who was born and bred for the purpose of destroying worlds. She is a powerful, fearsome character from the Supergirl comics, and you can read a little bit more about her by checking out the link here.
As of now, producers are in the process of casting the character, who will appear in a good chunk of the story coming up.
2. Floriana Lima is taking on a smaller role as Maggie – Lima will not be a series regular for season 3, and this was apparently her choice as she wants to take on some other opportunities. As referenced in this story, there are a number of ways for the show to keep her a part of the narrative — and keep her relationship with Alex Danvers — without her being around.
3. Katie McGarth will be a series regular – With this in mind, it’s clear Lena Luthor is here to say as a major part of this universe.
As for what is not known at present, there is no official word on Chris Wood’s status for the new season. Presumably, he is going to be a part of the show in some form … for now. It’s best to believe that following his departure from Earth until someone indicates otherwise.
