Prison Break season 5 finale spoilers: Jacob’s goes for Michael’s heart
In the new sneak peek below (via TVLine), you can get a sense of just what Jacob wants to do, and some of the terrible means he’s willing to take in order to ensure that he gets what he wants: Michael’s devastation. He effectively tries to turn his child Mike against him by making it clear that Michael is the dangerous villain here, whereas he is the kindly, heroic figure looking after the kid’s best interest. This is a classic tactic of villain-making, and projecting a certain image in order to get his way. Unfortunately for Michael, this is the sort of thing that Jacob excels at. He wouldn’t have been able to become Poseidon otherwise.
Hopefully, Prison Break viewers have taken a moment here and there to commend Mark Feuerstein on the performance here, given that this is far and away different than anything that the actor’s done as of late. Before this show, the the way in which we perceived him was as the kindly doctor Hank Lawson over on USA’s Royal Pains. Now, he has a completely different image attached to him, and it works. You don’t just see Hank when he is playing Jacob.
Hopefully, the finale will feature a moment where Michael manages to get Mike on his side, but nothing within the world of this show is altogether guaranteed. That is something that we’ve, at this point, come to learn many times over with this franchise. Remember that The Final Break didn’t exactly end in a way that was sunshine and rainbows for everyone. This finale’s just as likely to make you want to scream in anger and/or smash things than it is to make you smile over anything.
