Gotham season 3 episode 20 spoilers: Who wants to kill Oswald?
Specifically, what you see in this clip is a series of plots and plans revolving around the likes of Barbara, Tabitha, and then also Edward Nygma. The three of them in one way or another were complicit in the first attempted murder of Oswald, and they may have some challenges trying to take him out again. There’s a different sort of frustration in Barbara’s eyes here as she determines that trying to lead the criminal underworld of Gotham is a little bit more challenging than she first imagined, especially when it comes to dealing with a menace like this.

The funny thing about Gotham as a series is that even with it being so entertaining, there is a certain element of wheel-spinning going on here since so many of these villains continue to conspire to take one another out; with that, it enables someone new to rise to power, and destabilizes the criminal world enough for Jim Gordon and the GCPD to be able to fend it off for the time being — at least until Batman starts to surface and he can take on some of the heavy lifting himself. Even within the comic-book era of the show, there is this sense that if the greatest villains of Gotham were to actually come together and take down everyone in the city as a singular entity, they would probably be able to topple everyone. They’re just not able to do that. There’s an interesting commentary in here when it comes to how absolute power corrupts absolutely, and how all of these villains effectively want the same thing (to be king of the castle) so badly that they refuse in the process to take a smaller role in the action.
