There is a Mom problem like no other moving into the Lucifer season 2 finale on Monday, and it’s getting worse before it gets better.
The preview below offers up a little more in the way of content as a battle emerges that engulfs Lucifer’s entire family in one way or another. Mom’s powers are coming back, and to say that this is a problem would be making an ENORMOUS understatement. After all, just remember that this could expose many of Lucifer’s own secrets, including some of what he’s trying to hide from Chloe and others. Just imagine what any more hidden information could do when it comes to crumbling a relationship that already is far from where it was earlier this season. (The reality there seems to be mostly that it’s far too early in the run of Lucifer for both the title character and Chloe to be happy — there’s got to be a LOT of chaos that comes out before then.)
Before the finale is resolved, there is going to be one other enormous problem in the wake of Mom getting her powers back: Her disappearing along with Amenadiel. Lucifer is going to task Maze with trying to find them, and if that doesn’t happen quickly, it could call for some rather desperate measures.
A structural debate – In looking beyond the finale for a minute, one of the most interesting topics of conversation to come with the upcoming third season of the show right now is rather simple: What in the world could be coming in terms of the upcoming premiere? Given that there were four additional episodes filmed during season 2 that are going to be a part of season 3, it’s not clear yet if Fox is going to start by running those episodes at the start of the season, or hold onto them until various breaks in the action midway through. These episodes are written specifically for the purpose of existing out of context, so they may not be the ones used to start off the season. That’s probably going to exit more as a means of resolving whatever cliffhanger is put out into the universe.
