Silicon Valley season 4 episode 6 spoilers: The return of Russ
Think back to the first appearance from him during the premiere, when he had a few things to say towards Richard Hendricks on the subject of his “better internet.” When he resurfaces this time, let’s just say that he will not be altogether thrilled at the prospect of Richard having spent that much time with Gavin Belson. He will (of course) try to take far more credit for Richard’s idea than is merited, mostly because he did very little other than show up at the wrong school in order to pick up his daughter.
Silicon Valley season 4 episode 6 synopsis – “On the hunt for financial support, Richard (Thomas Middleditch) looks outside the tech bubble, and crosses paths with a contentious figure from Pied Piper’s past. Erlich (T.J. Miller) reaches out to Monica (Amanda Crew) and Laurie (Suzanne Cryer) in search of a new endeavor. A launch gone wrong finds Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) and Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) at war as Jared (Zach Woods) tries to keep the peace.”
While Russ’ return will be a wonderful injection of comedy into the show, there is a specter hanging over season 4 now that the news is known that TJ Miller is departing at the end of the season. All of a sudden, there is a further mystery now that comes in the form of wondering precisely how it is Erlich could leave. It is possible that the character actually finds some semblance of success? There’s something hilarious about this guy, after stumbling through so many failed ventures and destroying Big Head’s own undeserved fortune, stumbling into something more, whether it be with Jian Yang or otherwise. Hopefully the end of season 4 offers some closure.
