The Voice finale: Lauren Duski – Chris Blue iTunes results; who will win?
Unfortunately, it’s bad news for fans of both Aliyah Moulden and Jesse Larson. The two parties were not perceived to be favorites going into the two-night finale, and their results suggest that further. Hats off for the two getting into the iTunes top ten with their original songs, but the general consensus is that they will fall short. They’re somewhat-interchangeable in terms of who places third and who is fourth.
Now, let’s get back to the final two, given that as of 12:00 p.m. Pacific time today it looks relatively easy to call that Lauren will win season 12 — news that shouldn’t shock anyone. While Chris’ original song “Money on You” is sitting pretty at #3 on iTunes, Lauren has the #1 and #2 spot for both her self-written original song “Deja Vu” and her cover of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance.” Now, add to this that she is a country artist and a member of Team Blake Shelton, and she has three big things all going for her.
At this point in the show’s run, it is easy to call the structure reasonably unfair given the fact that so many country singers have won, and the same goes for members of Team Blake. As someone who felt like Chris Blue was the best artist this season consistently, it’s understandable to feel this way. Yet, Lauren was very good, and also the onus has to be on fans of other artists to figure out a way to combat this. There are ways to do so, given that Blake has lost several times before with country artists. These are just the people who often take the time to vote or to download songs. They’re passionate about their people, and if some of that passion was reflected elsewhere, there could be some differences that come with the results in the end.
