The Last Ship season 4 premiere date, details reportedly revealed
In the post below from The Last Ship TV account on Twitter (citing a page from TV Guide), it is revealed that the TNT drama starring Eric Dane will premiere on Sunday, August 20 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, which is actually earlier than some indications suggested that the show would be back. Some of the first sentiment out there was that the show would be starting in the fall, and this is at least a month earlier than that.
There are a few calculated benefits with the show starting at around this time, beginning with the fact that it would only conflict with a few episodes of Game of Thrones season 7. It does also get a jump on some of the fall programming, and can get viewers hooked on it once more before they opt to check out anything new in the schedule. This premiere date also ensures effectively that the show will be done before it gets close to the holidays.
Is it still better from this perspective that The Last Ship air early in the summer? Absolutely, but this is also coming from the perspective of someone not making the main programming decisions. Clearly, there is something that the network sees and likes when it comes to putting the show on the air at around this time; maybe it is filling a hole in their programming gap, and they care about meeting that need even more than they do specific ratings. Given that the show already has a season 5 renewal, that may make things a little bit easier when it comes to flexibility. The network doesn’t have to worry that much about the future since the show has that secured … for now.
Note that this premiere date has not been officially confirmed by the network just yet, but this is coming from such a solid source that it’s hard to see that changing. If there are further updates for whatever reason, we’ll be sure to let you know.

I can’t even begin to understand how much investment there is both in time and money in creating shows like this. Therefore I hate to gripe for more but …does it seem that these seasons contain rather few episodes and then long delays between them any more? Love this show but it starts and then is too quickly gone.
