Shades of Blue season 3 premiere date: When will Jennifer Lopez return?
What will the Shades of Blue season 3 premiere date be? Coming out of tonight’s season finale, this is certainly a worthy question.
Unfortunately, it is also one without a precise answer — though in this article, we can help to resolve when Jennifer Lopez, Ray Liotta, and the rest of the cast will be back. The first thing to note is that there will be a season 3, as NBC officially renewed the show a number of weeks ago. Also, it’s worth noting that the show is not on the fall schedule. This shouldn’t be all that much of a surprise either, given that Shades of Blue is a show that started in midseason for each of the past couple of seasons. This year, it began in March and the two-hour finale is a way to getting all of its episodes out there before the end of May sweeps. It’s probably fair to expect the same thing for a couple of different reasons.
1. NBC’s interest in trying new things – They’ve got their schedule programmed with so many other things that there is no real room for Shades of Blue season 3 at the moment. Another thing to effectively consider here is that there are three fewer programming hours for NBC during the fall / winter thanks to NFL football. One of the reasons why this show was on Sundays starting in March is just because this is when the night started to free up and didn’t have to deal with either football or awards shows.
2. The show’s ratings are not that great – If Shades of Blue aired almost anyone else on the schedule, you would have to wonder whether or not its ratings were good enough. However, Sundays at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time have shown itself as of late to be one of the worst timeslots in all of television. Many shows have a hard time surviving there.
For now, the good news with Shades of Blue is simply that there is more of the story, and with that, many more angles to explore. Given what’s going on with Harlee and Wozniak in the finale, it could take a little bit of time in order to effectively unravel much of this.

I’ve been googling the return for season 3 and have not found any clue to when it will be back so it looks like it won’t be back til sometime in 2018.

I read on NBC’s site that it’s coming back after Football season is over, which I BELIEVE is November? I could be wrong, I honestly have no idea when that is. haha

I’m happy that we will still be able to see Jennifer on our screens each week in World of Dance. Id expect season 3 to be back about Jan/Feb next year.
