CarterMatt Quick Hits: Roseanne revival twist; black-ish spin-off title; Magicians promotions
Per TVLine, the series is already planning how to address one of the biggest issues with the show coming back: Dan technically “dying” in the series finale. Apparently, they are looking at making the series finale largely a figment of Roseanne’s imagination, that way when the show comes back it will appear as though nothing ever happened. This wouldn’t be the first revival in the past year to pull a retcon for the sake of the show coming back. Just remember for a minute or two that Prison Break effectively did the same thing in order to come back on Fox for another season. When the thirst to bring a show back is real, you do eventually find ways to make it happen.
As for some other news on the day…
black-ish spin-off now has a name – What is it? Think along the lines of College-ish. Freeform officially has ordered thirteen episodes of the new comedy starring Yara Shahidi, which is going to feature her character from the flagship show at school trying to make things work there. While at school, she will absolutely learn just how different it is being out on her own.
One of the cool things about the episode count here is that in theory, it’s possible that she could do these episodes while still popping up on the main show here and there. What may be more of a challenge is her figuring out a way to get Anthony Anderson or Tracee Ellis Ross to turn up here, since they are the ones doing the bulk of the work elsewhere.
New The Magicians season 3 promotions – Here is what is known at the moment. Per a report coming in from Deadline, Trevor Einhorn and Brittany Curran are both going to be regulars for the upcoming third season. Expect to see more of Josh and Fen as a result of this! It’s an exciting announcement, one that does easily give you a lot to look forward to in terms of some of the battles that could be coming up on the show.
