Once Upon a Time season 7: First details on revamped story
Is it hard to see the show without Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, and others? Certainly, and the synopsis below doesn’t offer too much solace on how are why they will be turning up again:
“After six seasons, the residents of the Enchanted Forest face their greatest challenge yet as The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) join forces with a grown-up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”
This confirms that there will likely be some returning characters at various points, whether they be characters we’ve already met or people viewers are meeting for the first time. There will likely probably be another series regular or two announced, but it’s too early to tell just who they will be.
The one thing that the show should do more so than anything else for season 7 is try to restore the show more to its roots. In retrospect, the show probably was the strongest in the first season when it mixed the overall arcs with a little more of a serialized format. You had an opportunity to bring so many different characters into the fold, and that may have been easier to retain viewers down the line. After all, the show as structured is such that if you miss an episode, you’re going to have to catch up in order to understand what happens the rest of the way. It’s not always that easy to keep caught up in this era of hyper-competition.
