Major Crimes season 6 spoilers: New series regular on board!
According to a new report from Deadline, Chasing Life and The Earliest Show alum Jessica Meraz will be playing the new part of Detective Camila Paige. She is a woman who has far more life experience than her age would expect, and a lot of that comes from having to raise several of her siblings after the death of a car accident many years before.
In addition to this tragic backstory, there is a direct connection with Paige and the Major Crimes Division already — she has a history with Lt. Provenza already, which gives her a further in and could help her feel more like a part of the family sooner rather than later. Given that there are some changes that have taken place within the division over the past few years, it did make a certain degree of sense that something like this would happen here. This is a much more accurate reflection, after all, of what does happen with real police unit that experience a wide array of different changes over time.
Meanwhile, the site does also report that Lourdes Benedicto of V and The Nine is also going to have a key recurring role on the upcoming season in a part that could be included in one of the main cases of the season. Her role is that of Sara Garza, the wife of an incredibly success surgeon. She also works as his office manager, and the two are parents to a missing fifteen-year-old son. Throughout the season, she will be faced with many different hurdles, including her husband’s own health battle. Hopefully she is not a guilty party, and she can view the Major Crimes Division as allies rather than adversaries.
New episodes of the series will return to TNT a little bit later this year, and given that it is still a ways away, at the moment the only thing to really expect or hope to see is a wide array of interesting twists that will keep you guessing and some interesting subplots for all of the main characters. It’s about solving crimes, but also the family that is the team.
