New Girl renewed for season 7; Code Black season 3 also official
In beginning with the Fox comedy series, the news was confirmed via star Jake Johnson that the run will be just eight short episodes. Still, eight episodes is more than plenty to tie together the story and give you updates on all of the different characters. This may also prove useful in finding some ways to include Nasim Pedrad, whose character is going to have reasonably limited screen time in the wake of her landing a new gig elsewhere.
New Girl is at its best one of the better network comedies over the past few years. As a result of that, it is very much nice to see that the show is going to be getting one final kick at the can to celebrate this cast of characters.
There is no specific news as to when New Girl will premiere for season 7 just yet.
As for Code Black, all that is confirmed for now is that there will be more new episodes of the medical drama, which was heavily on the bubble for many different reasons. For one, its ratings fell over the course of the second season. Meanwhile, its presence at an outside studio does make it slightly less attractive than much of what CBS is doing in-house. The show is nonetheless valuable for a couple of different reasons, including that it is a different type of show than anything else on the network. Not only that, but it also provides a great deal of cast diversity for the network as a whole.
With this news and recent renewals for The Amazing Race and also Elementary, one of the most high-profile bubble scripted shows for now on CBS is Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. Given the recent renewals elsewhere it’s tough to be optimistic, but there is always hope. (On the reality side, the future is still unclear for Hunted after a reasonably-successful run earlier on this season.
