Chicago Fire season 6, Chicago PD season 5 featuring further changes

Fire season 6When Chicago Fire season 6 and Chicago PD season 5 both air next season on NBC, they are going to do so with some changes.

According to Deadline, Chicago Fire co-showrunner Michael Brandt will be departing at the end of season 5, which means that Derek Haas will be present to run the show solo. Meanwhile, Chicago PD will be undergoing some major creative changes at the same time. Mark Tinker is also going to be joining fellow executive producer Matt Olmstead in departing. It’s already been confirmed that Rick Eid, most recently of Law & Order: SVU, is going to be coming in as the new showrunner. It will be interesting to see what some of these changes mean to the show. Of the two series, it’s the more seismic shift given that Haas was a part of Chicago Fire from the very beginning.

While some shows would struggle with some of these changes, the One Chicago universe should be just fine. These series are executive produced by Dick Wolf, and he’s seen so many changes behind the scenes for his shows over the past few decades. While there are challenges that come along with doing some of this stuff behind the scenes, he is experienced when it comes to handling this sort of stuff through and through. These are two great shows, and they still have strong casts and writers at the heart of them. They’ll both presumably be back this fall.

In the midst of all of these changes, hopefully there will be a great chance to see what happens when it comes to the story tomorrow night when the episodes wrap up. Check back throughout the week, as there are new reviews coming for both the Chicago Fire, Chicago Justice and Chicago PD finales. There may also be some other features coming, but the less said about that for now, the better. (For the record, the Chicago Med finale is already over, and it’s been renewed already for a season 3. No reason to worry about that!)
