Veep season 6 episode 5 spoilers: Trouble at a house of wax
Before anything else, take a look at the attached synopsis for further evidence of this very thing.
Veep season 6 episode 5 synopsis – “Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) settles on a location for her presidential library. Dan (Reid Scott) lands in a gossip column. Mike (Matt Walsh) and Selina work on her book. Jonah (Timothy Simons) tries to cement a big donation. Gary (Tony Hale) manages a mini-crisis at Madame Tussauds.”
The idea of the wax museum as a key plot point is hilarious in itself. Given that Tussauds is surely not trying to create a wax version of Gary, this is obviously about Selina. In turn, this is definitely going to be something that she cares about far more than she should. She will want to be presented in the best light since people for generations will have an interest in spending as much time with her as possible.
The library, meanwhile, is the thing that is superficially more important both for public perception and for Selina’s own ego given that this is what everyone will see. She’s going to want a prominent location for it, somewhere that feels respectable and not in some back alley behind a seedy diner (which doesn’t seem that far off at this point). She wants funding for it, but so far her biggest prospective donor is a guy in Sherman Tans who all of a sudden seems more interested in giving Jonah a ton of money because he’s a crazy wild card that he may be able to further manipulate.
As for why Dan could get in a gossip column, don’t you think it could have something to do with his new gig on CBS This Morning colliding with his personal life? This doesn’t feel like something altogether hard to predict at the moment.
