The Toy Box preview: Candy Krusher, Bitblocks, Quadball, Curly Girls United, Connectimals

Quadball

On Friday night’s The Toy Box, Candy Krusher, Bitblocks, Quadball, Curly Girls United, and Connectimals are all entering the fray. Want some further news on them now? ABC released, as they’ve been known to do all season, some further insight into what the products are appearing on the show. Not all of the will make it to the kid judges, but last week it was revealed that there is no set number on the amount of toys that will make it there. There’s hope for all, even if some seem like more inventive ideas than others.

Candy Krusher – a candy press that molds sweet treats into fun shapes
Inventor: Barry from Dallas, Texas

Fun idea, no? There is something very fun about the idea of something that turns candy into playtime; the issue here is that won’t kids just want to eat the candy first?

Connectimals – lovable plush toys with interchangeable magnetic parts
Inventor: Kurt and Hannah from Westfield, Wisconsin

This is a mouthful to say! Also, the product is somewhat disadvantaged from a viewer point of view courtesy of airing after so many other plush products … and there’s already been feedback across the Toy Box that these products are hard to sell.

Bitblocks – a construction toy that utilizes only one type of block
Inventor: Will from Portland, Oregon

Meanwhile, there have also been a wide array of different construction toys, as well. This is all about imagination, and how many possibilities there are here for kids to make cool stuff without spending a ton of money this season.

Curly Girls United – a unique doll that celebrate girls with curly hair
Inventor: Margaret from Tinley Park, Illinois

The Toy Box just advanced another line of dolls. Is there room for another? Much of the success depends here on the quality of the hair on the doll and if there is anything else that has them standing out from the pack.

Quadball – a skill and action game with a nostalgic feel
Inventor: Chris from Huntington Beach, California

If easy to follow and instantly fun, this is a game that can take off. This is the struggle that any product in 2017 runs into — we’ve become so dumbed-down in many ways as a culture that it’s far more challenging to have a winning product unless it appeals to consumers immediately.
