Gotham season 4 renewal official; Last Man on Earth also returning

Gotham season 4 renewal

As we wind down this extremely busy day, Fox decided to unleash another round of news: The Gotham season 4 renewal is official!

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news tonight, and this means that the Ben McKenzie – Donal Logue series will potentially get another 22 episodes. It’s news that we certainly did expect given the bulk of its ratings; the biggest question that we had was mostly why in the world the show wasn’t renewed earlier than it was. Maybe there were a few little details that had to be hammered out here and there, since we hope that there isn’t such a long wait as we move into a potential fifth season of the show. We’d love ideally for the show to actually end with Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, though we do realize that the odds of that happening are probably pretty slim.

In some other good news, Fox has also officially renewed The Last Man on Earth for another season. This show is certainly more of a bubble show than Gotham was, and there is one thing that probably helped to save it more so than anything: Awards consideration. This show has scored Emmy nominations in the past for its star Will Forte, and there could be more coming up.

Now that these two renewals are in, there are a few shows on Fox still hanging on the bubble. Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl are among the comedies with the future still up in the air; meanwhile, The Exorcist and Scream Queens have yet to hear the official word, either, on the drama side. Of these shows, we do think that it is likely curtains for Scream Queens — remember that Sleepy Hollow and Rosewood have both been canceled already by the network, and we anticipate that APB will likely be as well.

What do you think about these two different renewals? Share some of your thoughts with a comment below!
