Agents of SHIELD season 4 finale spoilers: Ghost Rider, Aida, and drama
The last time we saw the character, otherwise known as Ghost Rider, he was being dragged effectively into another world. While it’s not entirely clear how he is back for the episode entitled “World’s End,” it is very clear why it’s important that he is here. The synopsis below spells that out.
Agents of SHIELD season 4 finale synopsis – “With the surprising emergence of Ghost Rider, Coulson and the team attempt to stop Aida from ending the world.”
The journey of Aida as a character is probably one of the things that Jed Whedon and the writers have done best this season, given that she started effectively as a robotic assistant before eventually becoming a Big Bad, Madame Hydra, and the new form that she’s in now. Her actions should be terrifying, and we’re definitely interested in seeing how everything will wind down here and then set up for a season 5 — provided that there is one.
Without even seeing tonight’s episode just yet, it’s also clear that we are going to see more of Henry Simmons as Mack — after all, he is featured in some of the promotional photos for this episode. In one way or another, we assume that every member of SHIELD is going to have a role to play given that stopping Aida is not going to be an easy thing to do. It will be a multiple-sided operation, with many different people all playing key parts in it.
More than anything else, bringing back Ghost Rider is at this point a great way to make the show feel even more full-circle at the moment. He was essential to the start of the show this season, so it only makes sense that he come back and be an important part in the way in which it ends. Also, he’s an awesome character we want to see more of across the MCU at this point.
