Agents of SHIELD season 4 episode 21 spoilers: Meet the human Aida
The first thing we have to say is that Mallory Jansen is probably not getting the credit that she deserves for her performance on the show this season. Just think about it for a moment: She’s gone from playing a seemingly-subservient robot to an evil robot to another evil robot (pictured above) to Agnes to Madame Hydra to a version of Aida who is now human and experiencing emotions for the first time. If it wasn’t for the fact that she’s evil and you have to think that she is going to tear the Fitz / Simmons relationship in half, you almost want to root for her.
The best villains are the ones that you do have some empathy for, and it is easy to have a little bit of it for Aida given everything that we’ve seen the character go through.
The sneak peek below from season 4 episode 21 is rather beautiful, as it features Fitz meeting Aida on a beach somewhere as she tries to describe some of the emotions that she’s feeling now that she is fully human; she says that one of the first choices that she wants to make is being with him, and then she portals the two away somewhere. We’re not sure just how much of a grasp he’s got on his own feelings at the moment, given that he is still trying to come to terms with some of the stuff that he’s done already. While he may not like the majority of the things that he did in terms of the Framework, he knows that he wasn’t of the same mind … but he still has to live with them. It’s not like he came back over to this world and suddenly forgot everything that happened, though we’re pretty sure that he probably wishes at this point that this was the case.
Will Fitz eventually find his way back to Jemma? We think so, if for no other reason than that we really wish that he was finding his way back to her now.
