Dancing with the Stars 24 review: Simone Biles, top 5 fight to advance

Simone

Tonight, Dancing with the Stars gave its celebrities two different routines to learn, but let’s be honest here — you’re mostly voting for the trios. These are the dances that were promoted, and they are therefore the dances that we’re most excited about coming out of the show.

Sure, Normani Kordei got a perfect score on her first routine, and we effectively saw Len Goodman telling Bonner Bolton to go home. Here, though, we want to focus on which one of the trios we’ll remember the most.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater (with Witney Carson) – This was one of the most intense dances of its kind we’ve seen, and Rashad certainly seemed like he had a great team going between the two women. Other than a footwork critique from Len, this was pretty perfect. Score: 39.

Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy (with Alan Bersten) – Did something happen to make Len grumpy entering the trio round? We’re starting to think so given that he docked this a point because of her dancing on the table — yep, this is the Len we roll our eyes at from time to time! Score: 39.

Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess (with Britt Stewart) – This was one of the first performances we’ve seen from Britt on the show, and this may be one of the most elaborately-staged dances we’ve ever seen. There wasn’t that much real dancing, but it was compelling at least. Score: 28.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber (with Britney Cherry) – This was fun! It didn’t have the total package of the first two routines, but we think that part of the issue there may have been that Simone was the only person forced to dance with a pro of the same gender. Score: 36.

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold (with Hayley Erbert) – This was probably the scariest that we’ve ever seen a guy who affectionately refers to himself as “Gramps.” He had a good first dance tonight, but this was a bit of a letdown. Score: 29.
