Is it possible that Phaedra Parks is leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta after being one of the show’s longtime cast members? Reports suggest so.
According to a report coming in from TMZ, Bravo informed Phaedra last month that she would not be returning to the show in the wake of allegations that she furthered along a false rumor about Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker wanting to “drug” Porsha Williams for some sexual escapades. This was a story that took up a lot of time near the end of the most-recent reunion show, and led to one of the more dramatic walk-off moments that we’ve seen from the franchise over the years after it came out that Phaedra was the one spearheading the whole Kandi/Todd/Porsha lie.
The entire situation, no matter who you support among the show’s cast, is more than just uncomfortable; therefore, we aren’t shocked that the show wants to move away from that. As for whether or not dropping Phaedra is the right move, we’ll leave that to some of you in the comments.
On the flip side of this, People Magazine reported via Bravo recently that no formal casting decisions have been made for the next season of the show; meanwhile, Phaedra claims that she is interested in returning if the offer is made:
“I would love to continue. Obviously the show documents your journey, and every journey has its ups and downs … It’s not always accurate, of course, but for the moments that they capture something that’s real — like being a mom, helping someone out, having a very sensitive moment on television that turns into something beautiful — that’s the legacy that counts when it comes to reality TV. The moments that change people’s lives.”
If Phaedra does leave, it looks like the show will be adding more housewives to its roster courtesy of maybe Kim Zolciak, NeNe Leakes, or even both. The two ladies have been at the center of discussions for a long time about their respective futures on the show, and we do have a feeling that the two will probably be more involved in some capacity moving forward. The last we heard, Kim will be more of a recurring player over the course of the next season.
Do you think Phaedra Parks leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta is the best move for the franchise to make right now? Sound off in the comments.
