Call the Midwife season 6 episode 7 synopsis – “Dr. Turner helps a family cope with the stresses of caring for a disabled child as the terrible legacy of thalidomide becomes apparent. Nurse Crane faces an unexpected crisis.”
Given the sort of person Dr. Turner is, it shouldn’t come as all that great of a shock that he is taking his role in prescribing the drug very hard. He wants the best for his patients and his babies, and cannot bear the thought that he had some sort of role to play in the deformities of many children who were born as a result. With that being said, he has to realize now that he is just one small player in a larger issue, and he couldn’t have known any better at the time and was just trying to do what he thought was best. He wasn’t trying to do anything malicious or harmful to the lives of any of these children, but the result of his actions is still the same.
As for what else is coming up within this episode, be prepared for the biggest story of the season for Nurse Crane as she is left to pick up the pieces after a pretty surprising accident. Meanwhile, things between Trixie and the dentist Christopher are going to pick up, but in the process there will also be some conflict as they each end up revealing major secrets to each other. All that happens here will gear up to the finale, where several key events are set to unfold before a long hiatus. Beyond this, you’ll be waiting until December to see what lies ahead over at Nonnatus House. (Remember, the story for Patsy and Delia is also not over — expect to see it addressed in the final episodes.)
