Outlander season 3: Essential TV stops for Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan
So what shows would we like to see the two appear on? We’ve compiled a list below of five U.S.-based talk shows, whether they be daytime or late-night, that could be a lot of fun to see them appearing on. Some are focused on zany comedy, whereas others get you into a venue where you can have more in-depth conversation. Ultimately, though, any TV appearance they make is a win for the show since it attracts more viewers and adds to an already powerful fan-base!
Ellen (syndication) – This is the talk show that most celebrities out there want to appear on, given that it’s such a fun, lighthearted experience with a big reach with one of the most-talented hosts in the business. Plus, you know that she’d get Sam and Caitriona to do a little dancing! It’d be a lighthearted breath of fresh air.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (NBC) – Imagine them doing charades or one of the other fun games that Fallon plays on the show. It’s a chance for them to have some fun and show a different side to what fans tend to see in standard interviews.
Conan (TBS) – Technically, Balfe has appeared on the show before, but what Conan O’Brien does exceptionally well is group interviews with large casts. Can we get the entire Outlander gang on there for a special edition of the show? Think of the stories and the hi-jinks!
Talking with Chris Hardwick (AMC) – The newest of the shows mentioned, and also probably our favorite as someone who loves the long-form interview format. You get an interactive TV environment with fans both in-studio and online getting involved with various questions; plus, there’s a podcast edition after the fact for those who want an extended version of the interview with Hardwick.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Comedy Central) – Noah’s also a skilled interviewer, and while Hardwick’s show would enable more of a chance about Sam and Caitriona’s comprehensive work as actors, this could be more of a venue for some of their political beliefs. We know Heughan and Balfe to be socially conscious, so this could be an opportunity to both talk Outlander and speak to current events.

I think all of them but Ellen, The Tonight Show. Conan would be my first picks! I can’t wait!

I agree with all of these venues although I would love to see them both on Saturday Night Live. I know they would be a huge success.

The late night show circuit is a must in order to appeal for broader audiences….early morning talk shows to expand their fan base and introduce …. to those who have no clue of Outlander… the stars of the show….Catrionia Balfe and Sam Heughan….agree completely with the Graham Norton suggestion…

This brings up an interesting topic. I would love to see Outlander get more mainstream PR. Ellen, The Talk, The View, late night shows etc. Coverage so far has been solid but they need to get before larger audiences.
