Happy weekend! We hope that it’s getting off to a great start for you, and we’re thrilled to offer up some Outlander news to get it started.
First of all, how about some night shoots — or specifically, some news about them? Jamie and Claire are going to be traveling by sea for a lot of the second half of season 3, and at some point during the journey, we’ll get to see them under the cover of nightfall. Night shoots happen with almost every show filmed out on location — they don’t happen as often with Outlander as they do with some other shows, but we do still think it’s worth noting that this is where we are with the show right now as we’re firmly in the home stretch of filming in the Cape Town area of South Africa.
One other interesting thing to remember here is that in order for some of these scenes to work, they have to be under a consistent state of darkness. If you think filming during the day is long, imagine being awake for hours on end in the middle of the night, especially when you’re not used to it!
Remember that season 3 premieres on Stars this September, so we will be seeing the fruits of their labor soon.
Further quotes from Maril Davis
One of the show’s executive producers — and one of the best people in production with the show’s fans, was a guest recently at the Bentonville Film Festival. While there, she took part in a Girls Rule panel alongside some other notable women affiliate with the network — Emma Frost of The White Princess, Tanya Saracho of the upcoming Pour Vida, and network executive Karen Bailey. The official Starz Twitter account was on hand to capture a series of inspiring quotes from these women about how hard they work and specifically what they need to do in order to battle preconceived notions and an industry that is still not altogether fair.
There is also a photo of the full panel at the bottom, just in case you want a visual of the setting for the event.
