Once Upon a Time season 6 episode 19 sneak peek: Emma in dreams
The sneak peek below is just a journey into a small snippet of one, but it’s a powerful one given that we have an opportunity to learn in here a little bit more about the abandonment he felt at the hands of his mother Fiona, otherwise known as the Black Fairy. This is an abandonment that defined him for the majority of his life, given that it caused him to carry around so much further fear and anger throughout the course of his life. In turn, he ended up repeating many of the mistakes of both of his parents.
So why bring Emma here? More than giving her a window into his soul, it feels like Rumple made this move largely as a distraction to better ensure that Emma could not get herself into a position where she ended up hurting Gideon. Ultimately, Rumple is of the mind that she would not be able to contain herself when it comes to doing something to try to stop him. It’s not something that would come for her as a desire to hurt him, but more of an impulse as the Savior to try to save. Rumple wants to stop his mother, but he wants to do so without hurting his son in any way. Odds are, that is going to be far easier said than done. Luckily, if there is one person out there who should be fairly capable of being able to think like a villain, it should be the man who’s effectively done so, even if he doesn’t want to admit it, ever since he became the Dark One.
