Longmire season 6 filming progress report: How far are we along?
The post on Twitter below via Louanne Stephens (who plays Ruby) makes it clear that they’ve seemingly finished episode 4 of the final season now, meaning that the cast and crew are just about at the halfway point. They will be once they make it through season 5. Compared to many other productions out there, especially broadcast ones with a 22-episode season, Longmire isn’t all that terrible a commitment. You come on, get a chance to do your work, and then you have a chance to do some other things. That’s probably one of the appealing things about doing the show; plus, you have a tight-knit cast and crew to come back to every year and give some updates on everything that you’ve got going on in your life.
When is the show coming back? Think September, though no firm premiere date has been revealed as of yet. (That’s not stopping us from sitting around and pondering it over, though!) The show will have to start things off by addressing the status of Walt Longmire as Sheriff, and then the wrongful death lawsuit to go along with that. There are so many different issues that the show will likely try to tackle in a pretty short amount of time, and we’ll have to see how they navigate that. There are also some personal relationships that need to be navigated, Henry has to find a way to emerge from where he is with Malachi in one piece, and we’ll hopefully get an update on Vic’s pregnancy. Longmire left a lot of cards on the table when season 5 wrapped, so hopefully it will answer some of those, while raising new ones, quickly into season 6.
Potentially, filming will continue for another month or two; then, the job is handed over to some of the folks in post-production to make this show as great as humanly possible.
