Ratings: The current Prison Break season 6 odds are…
The best news that we can offer in the aftermath of the Kellerman shocker is that the show didn’t suffer any sort of decline. Tuesday’s episode posted a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is about even from the installment that aired the week before. It did come in second place for the hour behind the premiere of NBC’s new comedy Great News, but the problem there was mostly that the show didn’t have to air against new episodes on either ABC or CBS.
To date, the revival is averaging a 1.1 rating in the demo, though that is largely inflated by the 1.5 it posted in the premiere. Could there be an interest in a season 6 based on this? Possibly, mostly because Fox is in the basement right now in terms of its ratings. Other than Empire and Lethal Weapon, most of their other scripted shows airing on Monday through Friday are struggling to stay above a 1.0. With that in mind, the Prison Break numbers are pretty close to the norm.
Now that we’ve said that, there’s probably not going to be the enthusiasm around bringing this show back that there was back when The X-Files came on the air. When that show was around, you got the sense immediately that Fox would move heaven and earth to ensure that there were some more episodes that came on the air. This show is going to be back as a result of that, given that it was just confirmed that ten more episodes of the Gillian Anderson – David Duchovny series are coming.
We’ll see what happens with Prison Break season 6.
Other ratings news
The big thing to note from last night, beyond everything that we’ve said already, is that Agents of SHIELD fell back down to a 0.6 after spending the past few weeks on the rise. We do want to think that it could be renewed for one more kick at the can, but there are no guarantees of such a thing. The one thing that’s going for it is that like Fox, ABC is having some serious programming challenges right now.
