The Voice iTunes results: Brennley Brown, Hunter Plake, Lauren Dunski strong
For the sake of this article, we’re going to focus mostly on some of the people who dominated the charts and seem poised for a long run this season — led by Brennley Brown. Her version of “Long Long Time” made her, as of this writing, the only artist within the top ten. Meanwhile, she was followed by Lauren Duski and “Lord I Hope This Day is Good.” This is a reminder that country music (and in the case of the latter, religious music) continue to be very dominant on the iTunes charts, and we don’t foresee there being many situations coming in which that starts to change in any way.
Meanwhile, you can go ahead and also classify Hunter Plake as safe given that his version of “Somebody That I Used to Know” ended up being at #15, while Chris Blue’s “Love and Happiness” also performed very well at #28.
Given that there are so many different factors that go into voting, we’re not all that comfortable right now to say that anyone else among the top 12 is safe. These four being in good shape isn’t really any shock, especially a guy in Hunter who we’ve felt for a little while now has been one of the strongest, most consistent performers on the season. The thing that we would probably be the most surprised about is if one of these four ends up going next week, well before their perceived time.
Overall, though, we’d say in general that we’ve got a rather great crop of contestants on The Voice this season, and without a consensus favorite, there is a little bit of a fun competitive spirit about it. This does make the show a little bit different than the last few seasons, where it was a little bit easier to start to telegraph some of what was going to happen. (Even with last season, you could start to see some of the Sundance Head momentum starting to form.)
