The Bachelor alum Chris Soules arrested over allegedly fleeing a scene
According to a new report coming in right now via TMZ, Soules was arrested overnight for allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, one that left the driver of a tractor dead. Details are still hazy, but most reports are that Soules was driving the pickup truck that was also involved in what happened. He was not charged at the time for driving under the influence, and remained in police custody as of this writing. There is a booking photo that you can see below via a local ABC affiliate.
Soules’ claim to fame on the show was as the low-key farmer from a tiny town in Iowa who had humble beginnings and promised a future wife a very different sort of country life. He proposed to Whitney Bischoff at the end of the season, but the two broke up in the months that followed both this show and his appearance on Dancing with the Stars after the fact. There were rumors over the past few weeks that he could be a part of the new season of Bachelor in Paradise (which would make him the first former lead of a series to take part), but you have to think that most of that discussion is now over since there are way more important things going on is his world.
In the end, the situation is terrible all around. Chris is obviously a public figure who knows better than to apparently do something like this, and this is the sort of charge that could easily ruin the remainder of his life. Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family during what has to be a difficult time, especially since they are now involved in a high-profile case just because of the person who was arrested. It’s certainly not the sort of thing we enjoy reporting about.
There’s not too much that needs to be said here. It’s sad all around, but we’ll provide updates as they start to creep out.
