Once Upon a Time season 6 spoilers: First look at Emma’s wedding dress
If you look below, you can see via Entertainment Weekly a first look at the big dress, which is going to be featured on the upcoming musical episode airing next month. While it may appear a little odd on the surface for Emma to have a wedding right before the final battle against the Black Fairy, it’s actually something that makes sense in the context of what executive producer Edward Kitsis had to say to the site:
“Emma knows the Final Battle is in front of her, but she, in this moment, is brave and is not going to let the troubles of whatever they’re dealing with get in the way of her happiness … She’s truly following her mother’s advice to live her life.”
Of course, we’re happy to get a Captain Swan wedding — Emma and Hook have been through so much over the course of the series that they deserve a chance to have a little bit of happiness with each other. Having it be a culmination of much of the season feels like the right move. Here’s the twist — there is so much capacity for things to go terribly wrong here, given the sole fact that you’re basically throwing these characters into a situation where the Black Fairy could attack at any moment.
We figure that there is probably also an issue here when it comes to optics. Remember that Once Upon a Time has not been officially renewed yet for another season. With that, having an Emma Swan wedding at this point is probably the best way to ensure that this moment happens for the fans. If the show doesn’t get renewed for some crazy reason, it’d be incredibly depressing that nobody ever received that.
