The Big Bang Theory season 10 spoilers: Riki Lindhome returns for finale

Riki Lindhome

Suffice it to say that this is something we didn’t expect: Riki Lindhome is returning to The Big Bang Theory for the season 10 finale.

It’s been a good eight seasons since Lindhome was last on the show, and even when she was there, she was known for just one episode: “The Cooper-Nowitzki Theorem.” In that episode, her character was an obsessed follower of Sheldon’s who eventually attempted to cut him off from his life and his friends to focus only on the pursuit of science.

CBS confirmed Lindhome’s return in a press release today for the May 11 episode. Read more in terms of the details below:

“The gang is concerned when Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) former admirer, Dr. Ramona Nowitzki (guest star Riki Lindhome), resurfaces while Amy (Mayim Bialik) is away at Princeton.”

Is Sheldon going to be tempted by another woman? We’re not sure we can call it that per se given what we saw of Ramona the last time she was on the show. It’s almost hard to project what her return will do, given that Sheldon is a very different character now than he was back in season 2. We do love, though, that someone on The Big Bang Theory is clearly a Garfunkel & Oates fan, given that Kate Micucci has appeared a number of times in the character of Lucy. Sadly, she and Lindhome have yet to appear in an episode together.

Ultimately, maybe this episode is a good way to offer up some reflection for Sheldon as he looks ahead to whatever the new chapter of his life will be. There actually was a period of time where this could have been a series finale before CBS renewed the show, not that we ever thought there was any sort of danger of it being canceled in the first place. Still, we’re interested to see how the network decided to go big in tying up the season 10 story.
