The Voice: Jack Cassidy, Felicia Temple return as wildcard contestants

Jack Cassidy

The Coach Comeback artists were revealed on The Voice Monday night, and the news is certainly good for Jack Cassidy and Felicia Temple!

These two artists, following their eliminations on the show before, were named the wildcards for Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton, respectively. This was probably a smart move for both of them, given that they each do have some great potential. Will it be enough to be able to get the two to the next round? That is one of the biggest challenge for any of the contestants who return to the competition in this way, since they have to find a way to stand out and be more than just the exciting comeback story. That is great, but this is a competition that does often demand even more out of you.

For her comeback performance, Felicia chose to take a page out of the classic Broadway musical “Wicked,” as she performed the hit “Defying Gravity.” While it may not be the most current song in the world for the pop-music market, at the same time we do think that there is a big stage audience out there who probably loved just about every second of this.

As for Jack, he went out and performed the Elton John classic “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” We really do like the song, but we will be the first to admit that it’s been a little bit of singing show poison over the years. We’ve seen plenty of examples over time of this song being one that put singers in jeopardy, and we obviously don’t want that to be the case here. Ultimately, we’ll find out a little bit later in the week, but Jack did everything that he could in order to emerge from the competition with a good chance.
