Saturday Night Live: Could Melissa McCarthy, Justin Timberlake join Jimmy Fallon?
Now, what sort of cameos could we see tonight? There’s a laundry list out there, but we’re going to do our best to simplify this list to the three we’re begging to see the most.
Amy Poehler – Vintage. Any chance to get some old Weekend Update folks together is something we’re going to celebrate. Maybe throw a Seth Meyers cameo in here somewhere? He was never that much of a sketch guy, which is probably one of the reasons why he hasn’t been hired as a host just yet.
Justin Timberlake – It’s remarkable that it’s been as long as it’s been since we had a chance to see JT on SNL, especially given at one point he was the most popular host on the planet. He and Fallon are electric together, and we see no better person to lift the show over the edge tonight.
Melissa McCarthy – Obviously, Alec Baldwin will always be at the center of speculation, but other than to do an impression-off with Fallon over Donald Trump, it’s hard to make fun of military stuff and it’s a quiet week otherwise. McCarthy, however, would be perfect since this has been a huge past seven days for Sean Spicer. We know that she’s hosting next month, but of course his controversial marks are ripe for parody, and it’s rather sad that they also happened to come out right around the time of Passover.
Then again, maybe SNL decides to just let these comments stay buried, given that they are a few days old at this point and we’ve already seen Spicer apologize for it on some level. Maybe everyone’s okay at this point with letting it be … but we doubt it. If McCarthy’s available we feel like she’ll be there and we will be laughing our face off.
