Saturday Night Live – Jimmy Fallon promo; Melissa McCarthy hopes

Jimmy Fallon promo

This weekend Saturday Night Live is not only new, but it is airing across all time zones simultaneously for the first time. Go ahead and consider this a momentous occasion because it absolutely is.

As if this wasn’t enough of a reason to be excited, we’ve also got the first Jimmy Fallon promo for you below! This one features him having a good time alongside musical guest Harry Styles, who reminds us of what a great personality and sense of humor  he has. We do think that Styles could be used in a sketch or two this weekend; we’ve seen him take part in them before alongside One Direction, and this could mark another opportunity to do so once more. We don’t expect him to be the new Justin Timberlake, but there is some potential for there to be some fun here.

As for Fallon, we’re happy to see him back since he’s got the perfect energy for the show and he’ll probably attract some celebrity cameos. We do wish that he’d stop breaking in everything, though, simply because the more that a cast member breaks, the less organic it feels. It’s okay if it happens once or twice, similar to how it happened with Kate McKinnon and Louis CK at the very end of this past episode of the show.

The craziest thing to think is that it’s been a couple of years since Fallon hosted; time really flies.

Will Melissa McCarthy turn up?

As of right now, that’s our hope given that this week’s been one of the biggest disasters in the history of Sean Spicer as Press Secretary. Yet, there are two different things to consider here:

1. Do you want to make light of Spicer saying something so inflammatory? The Hitler comparison he made was such that it led to a full-on apology, something we haven’t seen all that much of within the Trump administration. We’re all for it if there’s a unique take, but it may be old news by the time the weekend rolls around.

2. McCarthy is hosting next month, so there may not be a hurry to get her back on the show. Also, Melissa continually has about two million different things going on, and it takes up a good chunk of the day to get set for the show, rehearse for it, and get on all of that makeup.
