Fear the Walking Dead season 4 renewal official; new showrunners named

Fear the Walking Dead season 4 renewal

We assumed that this was coming based on the recent showrunner search, but the Fear the Walking Dead season 4 renewal is official. Not only that, but we know a little more now about who the new creative team is going to be!

AMC announced on Friday that showrunner Dave Erickson, who is departing the position at the end of season 3, will be replaced by Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg of Once Upon a Time. We know the work of these two guys fairly well after covering the fairy-tale drama for many years now. Goldberg hasn’t been a part of Once Upon a Time for a few years now, but he recently was a part of the team at Dead of Summer, which was also executive produced by the Once Upon a Time creative team of Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. Therefore, he knows horror to go along with fantasy and working with ensemble casts.

On paper, these two guys seem to be the right guys to help steer the ship in the right direction. Not only that, but they’ll be assisted further by Scott M. Gimple of The Walking Dead proper, who is being added as an executive producer while he continues as showrunner of the main show. This is a sign that he is clearly set to remain a part of the franchise for some time still.

In a statement, Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for both AMC and SundanceTV, had the following to say:

“We’re very excited to continue the journey of Fear The Walking Dead, and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple.”

Meanwhile, we’ve also got the following statement from Chambliss and Goldberg as they prepare to take on this role:

“We are thrilled to be joining Fear The Walking Dead and couldn’t be more excited to work alongside the wonderful team at AMC on this show … We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it.”

Fear the Walking Dead season 3 is going to be premiering on AMC this summer, and we imagine that over the weeks ahead, we’ll have some further news to report on it.
