MasterChef Junior exclusive preview: A red team empty-plate crisis
In the new, exclusive sneak peek below from Thursday night’s new episode, you’re going to get a great opportunity to see what the central challenge of the hour will be — trying to cook for a number of boy and girl scouts out in the field. It’s a similar task to the one with the first responders earlier this season, where the primary focus is on execution more than creativity. Also, teamwork.
This preview makes it specifically appear that the central problem for the red team is their ability to get plates out there to all of the scouts coming up to them. Mark’s struggling with the cook on the pork — some of them are being burnt, which leads in turn to Gordon Ramsay making it clear that he doesn’t want anyone out there to be served this product.
The presence of empty plates in a challenge like this can be potentially devastating, given that it signals that these are people who simply are not going to have an opportunity to vote for the red team to have the better meal on the occasion. This, in turn, shifts the power over to the blue team. If they can execute the majority of their plates effectively, all of a sudden they will have a leg up on the competition and a great chance to move forward to the next episode without any jeopardy.
One way or another, we imagine that this will be intense, and our heart goes out to all the young chefs! Even though this may be a labor of love, it’s still a lot of work to go out there and have to cook in some of these elements and the stress of a team environment. This is something that we certainly imagine that we’re going to be seeing more of as we get further into the season.
