Colony season 3 premiere date: What is it? We speculate
In terms of potential dates, the first thing that you should do is (of course) look at history — there’s nothing quite like the past when it comes to dictating the future. It appears as of right now that season 3 of the series featuring Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies will premiere around the middle of January. The first two seasons both premiered around that time, and this is clearly a time that USA thinks works for them. They get to air the entirety of the season before the start of May sweeps, and while they are stuck fending off competition from major networks, they seem to be okay with that.
Do we think that there is a case for shifting the show to summer? Absolutely, especially given how some broadcast networks are becoming increasingly shy when it comes to actually airing scripted programming in those months. There may be a smaller overall pool of viewers available, but if promoted properly, we could see Colony getting a bigger piece of said pie if promoted properly.
Yet, we know that if the show was to move, we’d be looking at a hiatus of a year and a half. It’s hard to advocate for something like that.
Filming for Colony season 3 (which was just confirmed by the network earlier this week) will likely start filming in the summer / early fall, and the show’s future beyond that is something that we’ll have a long time to get into. While the network does have a great tendency to keep its quality properties on the air a long time, the ratings for the show could use a little bit of a bump — at least in terms of live+same day numbers, since these are what matters the most in terms of keeping the show on the air.
As we wind this article down, let’s go ahead and send the question off your way: Do you want to see Colony on the air next January, or brave a move to summer? We want to hear your thoughts one way or the other below!
